This fluffy and moist vanilla cake is perfect for any occasion! With a light texture and deliciously rich vanilla flavor, it’s great on its own or paired with frosting.

Ingredients
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk, at room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or heavy cream (for consistency)
Step By Step Method
Step 01.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans, or line with parchment paper.

Step 02.

In a bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Step 03.

In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Step 04.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour. Mix until just combined—avoid overmixing.

Step 05.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Step 06.

Allow cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 07.

In a bowl, beat softened butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar, mixing well. Add vanilla and milk (one tablespoon at a time) until smooth and spreadable.

Step 08.

Once the cakes are completely cool, spread a layer of frosting on top of one cake. Place the second cake layer on top and spread the frosting evenly over the top and sides. .
